The results speak for themselves: quicker resolution of cases, lower recidivism rates, and more meaningful opportunities to repair the harm done to individuals and the community.<br />&ldquo;Although partially funded by government and social services agencies, we need the support of individual donors and corporate sponsors to deliver our restorative justice programs across the county.&rdquo; says Executive Director Joellen McHard.<br />With the energy and talent of local musicians, LCCJ hopes to raise $3,000 through three concerts taking place in April, May and June.<br />&nbsp;<br /><strong>Here's the line-up for the Restorative Justice Fundraising Concert Series:</strong><ul><li>The April 26th 7pm concert features <strong>Doug Barr</strong>, a local singer/songwriter with a passion for the environment, off-grid living and storytelling through original lyric-based music. A festival favorite here in Lanark County, Doug has years of experience writing music and performing for all ages. This event will be held at the <a href="https://oakfieldrugbypark.com/">Oakfield Rugby Club</a> in Perth.</li><li>On May 10th 7pm come enjoy <strong>LONG SAULT TRIO</strong>&nbsp;at <a href="https://www.rcl244.com/">Branch 244 of the Royal Canadian Legion</a> in Perth. This trio was formed on the grassy banks of Long Sault Creek in McDonald&rsquo;s Corners, and their music meanders through folk with hints of blues, jazz and traditional styles.&nbsp;Members include Lanark County locals Victor Maltly, David Tilston, and Linda Marie Grenier. We will be exploring the definition, principles, roots and benefits of Restorative Justice as well as addressing myths about it.&nbsp;</li><li><strong>Interactive Component:</strong> Participants reflect on themes of forgiveness, repair and accountability within their own lives. Restorative approaches to justice are explored within varying contexts of their own lives; embodied learning strategies include reflection through writing, partner/group sharing, and mindfulness practices, including meditation and visualization.&nbsp;</li><li><strong>Integrative Component:</strong> The group comes together to mastermind ways to implement restorative principles into their daily lives; participants collectively create a toolkit of strategies and potential actionable changes to implement restorative justices into their daily lives.&nbsp;</li><li><strong>Summation:</strong> Closing circle with space for sharing.&nbsp;</li></ul><br /><u><em><strong>About our Guest Speaker:&nbsp;</strong></em></u><br />Marlee Liss, <a href="http://www.marleeliss.com" target="_blank">www.marleeliss.com</a><br />Marlee has worked with countless beings internationally to inspire transformative healing. She published a book about her journey through sexual violence, trauma and transformation in 2017. Marlee is a rape survivor who participated in a Restorative Justice forum to resolve her case.&nbsp;<br />Re-Humanize Movement, <a href="http://www.rehumanizemovement.com" target="_blank">www.rehumanizemovement.com&nbsp;</a><br />Marlee Liss founded the Re-Humanize Movement with her mother, in 2019 after experiencing a profoundly healing Restorative Justice process for sexual harm.
